Thunder and lightning
Can be so frightening

The boom that makes the heart skip
Like a cannon that roars from a ship

The sudden snapping flash
Like a whipping lash

OR

The booming hum
So like a drum

The flash of light
With searing might

Like a perfect symphony
Filled with excitement, longing, and magical anticipation
Sending waves of intense elation

The energy circulating
Rain water percolating

Rising like a whirlwind
Performing the perfect minuet

The tempo changes
As the conductor arranges

And then silence
A quiet calmness
And surreal stillness

I lost my way
but that's okay
for here I stay

My heart goes wild
quite like a child
I am beguiled

Free of spirit
Can you hear it

The ocean crashing
feel me thrashing

I awake from my dreams
Nothing is as it seems
Between two extremes

Forget the past
It did not last
This life is vast

Go out from here
but keep me near
and have no fear

We co-create this universe
The life we have, not a curse

So smile my friend 
and let us mend

Fourteen years ago you went away,
How I wish we could change that day

Your tragic death
left me bereft

The years pass by
I still ask why

you fell asleep in that bed of snow
leaving me with such intense sorrow

I know that you are now at peace
all pain and sadness ended with your decease

my only hope is that I've made you proud
I love you daddy and I say it aloud

The look in the photo says it all
you love me much, we had a ball

A lot has changed in these 14 years
so much laughter and some tears

The kids have grown
but I'm not alone

I'm surrounded by love
such gifts from above

So grateful for the time we had
from time to time I may grow sad
You will always be my only dad

I know where you’ve been
I’ve seen what you’ve seen

You don’t know me well,
Just a short spell

In me you have a trusted friend
You’re secrets with me until the end

I only hope those days are over
Don’t be fearful of exposure

Forget the blame
Let go of shame

I know, and that’s okay
I still love you anyway

That all encompassing desire
That fills the belly with its fire

Makes us selfish with our need
Becomes the thing that feeds our greed

That twisted mental obsession
The only relief being possession

To need relief
Beyond all belief

Raging, roaring, gnawing pain
Makes us feel like we’re insane

I know, my friend
I know
But hear me now
I can show you how

To have a life beyond your wildest dreams
I hear you laugh. I know how this seems!

There can be freedom from this bondage
That is better than any mere bandage

So take my hand
and I'll show you a land

Where together we can do
what we cannot do alone

I only know this because I too was shown
and now, I know!

It's a brand New Year
Let's fill it with cheer
with love for one another
like a sister or a brother
We will pray for world peace
for warring to cease
No more senseless death and devastation
Together working for restoration 
of simple kindness and caring
that will come from sharing
the love in our heart
each one doing our part
until it becomes contagious
This may sound outrageous
but let's try it and see
what our world can really be!
